Choose how to explore La Via Delle PREALPI!

No matter how you choose to travel, when you are on the Prealp Path you never stop discovering sites from the First World War and other periods in history, not to mention art, traditions, food and wine, all in a unique natural environment.

There are hiking routes between Lake Garda and Cansiglio, horse riding trails starting on Monte Baldo and the Piccole Dolomiti (Little Dolomites), and mountain bike tracks, including cross country options. As well as numerous routes and trails, on the Prealp Path you can get to know the local area and its people by taking part in unique activities.
Savour fresh experiences and meet new people every day, including fellow visitors, equestrians, nature lovers, tourists who like to take it easy, and people from the local area. You can meet herdsmen who make mountain cheeses, vine growers who will offer you their finest wines, and guides who can take you on paths through the natural environment, over rope bridges and through unique settings such as the ancient geological site known as the Veja Bridge. If you are an adrenaline junkie, you can go paragliding, visit adventure parks and try all sorts of other exciting activities.

Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG

This wine was born on the hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, and its denomination of origin (DOCG) rewards the constant and excellent work of the winemakers. Appreciate and taste its fine perlage and its fruity and flowery aroma. Its best expression is the Spumante kind.

Military Shrine of Asiago

The Shrine was built in 1936 and it is made up of two parts: the Crypt, with the known and unknown Fallen of 35 war graves, and the Quadrangle, reachable by a wide stairway. From there you can admire the beautiful landscape over Asiago Highland.

Garda Lake

Alpine lake where climate is mild; area of 370sqkm on the North surrounded by mountains and toward the flatland, between the gulfs of Peschiera and Desenzano on the southern part. The lake and the various landscapes are part of the different outdoor activities you can experience.

Cima Grappa military Shrine

You are on the top of Monte Grappa, 1776 m above sea level: a majestic stairway will lead you from the base of the monument to the top of the Shrine of the Madonnina del Grappa. The military Shrine was built in 1935, which houses the remains of twelve thousands soldiers who fell in battle.

Paragliding

The conformation of the Massif among Romano d'Ezzelino, Borso del Grappa and Crespano is the ideal area for paragliding. It is protected from northern winds, facing the valley and rich of updrafts, that will excite the participants.

The Valpolicella DOCG wines

Among the ancient winemaking traditions of Valpolicella, the Amarone is an intense red wine, with scent of dried fruit, tobacco and spices. After years of ageing in spectacular wooding barrels, the wine is soft and well-balanced on the palate.

Piave River

From Monte Peralba, after 231 kms Piave river flows into the Adriatic sea, between Eraclea and Jesolo. Scenography of the worst battles of the Great War, it was border and line of defense of the Italian army. Today, many water sports developed here and swimmers have fun along its sides.

Campomolon Fort

The fort was built right before the First World War, to defend the Italian border from the Austro-Hungarian Empire. From the Valbona Passage, you reach the horseshoe-shaped gallery, where there is a room, perhaps ammunition storage. Following the crag, you can reach the area of the artillery.

The Castle of Zumelle

The tower and the walls surrounded by the deep moat, leaning on the Terche stream, will make you go back in time, experiencing the real and authentic atmosphere of a medieval fortress. A lively castle, where many cultural and enogastronomic events take place.

Tonic liquor of Cansiglio

Produced through the hydroalcoholic infusion of berries and 18 typical herbs of the Forest of Cansiglio; it is dark brown and characterised by a fragrant aroma and a round flavour. Excellent to be tasted cold or hot after meals.

Vezzena PDO Cheese

This cheese is produced only with the summer milk of the cows at the alpine hut. The Vezzena can be mature (18 months) or very mature (24 months); in both cases it has buttery texture, slightly bitter taste and it is grainy. The mountain pastures and the long maturing make unique its flavour.

Cimbra beer

Water from the alpine spring of the Gurktal park and local barley: these are the characteristics that make the Cimbra craft beer unique. This is an unpasteurised and low fermentation beer, to keep its delicate and grassy scents and its mountain taste.

Astrophysical Observatory

Fondato dall’Università di Padova nel 1942, l’Osservatorio contiene il più grande telescopio d’Europa dedicato a Galileo, tramite il quale si sono ottenuti grandi risultati nel campo delle stelle e delle galassie. La struttura ospita inoltre il Museo degli Strumenti Scientifici.

The Foza Breed

The Foza breed, of medium-large size and acorn in both sexes, is characterised by a very long wool.
In the past, its wool was used in textiles, today the Foza is mainly bred for meat: smoked meats, salamis, arrosticini and hams are to be tasted.

Native of the Altopiano di Asiago, this breed must be protected because it risks extinction.

Tuono NATO base

Built close to Passo Coe, in Folgaria (Trentino) on the border with Veneto region, the base was part of a NATO defence system in the 60's. It would had had to counter air attacks of the Warsaw Treat States. It operated from 1966 to 1977.

Museum of the Great War 1915-1918

The museum, staged in the charming former railway station that served the rail line Piovene Rocchette – Asiago from 1910 to 1958, represents one of the most comprehensive and interesting italian collections of materials of the First World War.

The truffle of Baldo

The black hornbeam, the downy oak and the hazelnut tree are the main symbiont plants of the Monte Baldo woods, perfect for the truffle. The "fine black", delicious mushroom that grows up from December to March, releases an intense and pleasant scent, that enriches any dish.

Acropark Pianezze Avventura

The Park is perfect to live a day among smell and sounds of nature, testing themselves with liana, gangways and pulleys. Pianezze Avventura has much more to offer: you can rent a bike or snowshoeing for guided tours in Summer and Winter.

The broken mountain

Following the itinerary developed over stone bridge, you can reach a peculiar slit 93 mt deep, carved into the rock. An evocative and mysterious legend enshoruds this majestic place, where the iron stair placed between waterfalls and streams.

In Campomuletto, surrounded by the Great War Mountains, starts the Itinerary of the Silence: a path to honor the fallen of the Great War. A series of installations to reflect on the war and to defend the peace, surrounded by the beauty of the mountains.

Castelloni of St. Mark

Leaving from Malga Fossetta, following an extraordinary itinerary through a wood of spruces, larch trees, and mountain pines you will admire an unforgettable kastic formation. Shaped rocks, crevices and gallerie create an incredible and panoramic maze of the Castelloni di San Marco.

Itinerary of Great Trees

An easy trekking path which develops among meadows, centuries-old beech trees and alpine huts. Along the way, you can admire the view to the Piccole Dolomiti, from Monte Mesole to Gruppo del Carega; the small lake Sea del Risso, the foxholes and the big Vaj, descending from Monte Zevola.

An equipped park of 6.000 sqm, perfect to test yourself with harness and snap-hooks, along 6 different paths: Tibetan bridges, pulleys, gangways over trunks, suspended tunnels, lianas, surrounded by an amazing beech wood.

Dolomiti Bellunesi PDO Honey

Depending on the different species of flowers blossoming during the production period, honey could be of different varieties: dandelion, acacia, tilia, wildflower, chestnut and rhododendron honey. It is a special product from the heart of the Dolomites of Belluno.

The Spit of Marca Trevigiana

The Spiedo (Spit) is not only a way of cooking meat, but it is a way of life: the careful preparation the day before, the slow cooking to spend some time together and talking while tasting a "ombra de vin" (glass of wine) and the final lunch, make it the most loved traditional dish.

Asiago PDO Cheese

This cheese has a nice and flowery milk flavour; it has fine and sweet aroma. The unspoiled nature of the alpine meadows and the ancient cheese-making tradition involving the ripening with red spruce timber, produced over 600m, make this cheese unique.

The Bellunese Pastin

A round of minced mixed meat, flavoured with spices, pepper, lard and garlic. The traditional preparation of pastin took place during the period of pork butchering. Today you can taste it all year round, raw or cooked, or in the typical sandwich at the local events.

The Flowers of M. Baldo

Known as the Garden of Europe for its rich flora, where several plants and rare flowers grow spontaneously: arnica, lilies, gentians, orchids, buttercups and silver geraniums. Choose your panoramic itinerary and appreciate the Spring colours on the mountains of Garda Lake.

The Brogna breed

The Brogna sheep, of medium breed and with an acorn head in both sexes, was an important producer of fine wool and found its main market outlet in the lowland markets.
Thanks to their ability to reach sloping and marginal areas, they also ensure the survival of meadows and pastures, conserving various ecosystems and protecting biodiversity

Originally from Lessinia and Slow Food Presidia. This breed risked extinction.

Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park

A vast protected area from Piave Valley to Cismon Valley, from Maè to Agordino basins. In this area you can discover medium and high mountain regions, with numerous varieties of alpine flora and fauna: a unique complex to explore on foot, by bike or horse-riding.

Prosecco Hills UNESCO World Heritage Site

Along the road on the hills between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, you will be astonished by the breathtaking landscape: pointy and steep hills, places of "heroic grape harvest", interspersed with parallel valleys. A great example of traditional human settlement.

Going up and down among hills and mountains of the Alte Valli Vicentine, you will find a varied and surprising landscape. You can visit relevant places for the World Wars and many small food farming activities, located in this beautiful area.

The Sopressa Vicentina PDO

The Sopressa Vicentina PDO is one of the first products to obtain the denomination of origin. It is characterised by a matte pink colour, a good balance between fat and lean parts and a sweet and delicate flavour. It is produced following a traditional pressing process of meat pork.

Piave PDO Cheese

From the Fresh to the Old Reserve, the Piave PDO is produced only with milk of alpine meadows milk of Belluno. It is a high-energy product, rich of nutritional values, to taste with honey and jam, or with crepes, risotti or fried.

Park of the lakes of the valley

Between the Venetian Prealps and the Hills of Treviso, Santa Maria and Lago lakes are located. Along a natural path you can discover lake flora and fauna. Inside, the Archaeological Park of Livelet is an educational park, where experience history and nature.

Lisser Fort

Built to control Valsugana, but in a strategic position to defend the are of Melette and of Piana di Marcesina, the Lisser Fort was an autonomous building, with 4 cannons, a warehouse and accommodation for the soldiers. The fort is opened for visits today.

MIM - Interactive Museum of Migrations

A museum located at the Associazione Bellunesi nel Mondo (Associations of Bellunesi in the world) seat. Its aim is to reflect that migration had always existed and, as mankind peculiarity, is the lifeblood of the world, contributing to the birth and development of great human societies.

Rock city

Leaving from Malga Slapeur, reachable from Campomulo or Malga Lora, along the road Foza-Lazzaretti-Marcesina, the itinerary around Monte Fior is peaceful and pleasant. You can admire the fascinating landscape, characterised by grooves, huge lopsided stones and wide meadows.

The Alpagota breed and Alpago lamb

Exactly halfway between Cortina d'Ampezzo and Venice, the Alpago area has always been the ideal place for pastures. It gives name to a native sheep breed, small- to medium-sized, with a thick fur and an odd dark speckledness on the head.

The lamb is a Slow Food Presidia. This breed must be valued and protected because it risks extinction.

The Tibetan bridge in Val Sorda

The bridge links the itineraries of Marano di Valpolicella and the ones of Sant'Anna d'Alfaedo. It is 40mt high above the "vajo" and 52mt long. Two people at a time can walk on it, thanks to its 70m width, and enjoy a wonderful view over Val Sorda.

Combai PGI Chestnut

The small village of Combai livens up every year in Autumn, when in the past adults and children were used to go to the chestnut trees wood, to pick up the famous and fine chestnuts. Today, this product is celebrated during a great event and using it as ingredient for numerous delicious recipes.

The red marble of Verona

Red is the main colour of the stone from Verona: the various pink and red tones differentiate the marble used for the Arena and the churches. The marble taken out of the Valpolicella mounts, following an ancient tradition, is characterised by a high concentration of iron oxide and fossil remains.

Cimbri villages

A community belonging to the warrior tribe who settled on the Highland of Cansiglio, to "cut beech strips" for the Serenissima Republic. The Cimbri villages developed as small and basic wooden houses wtih pointed roofs, that remember us the laborious life of the past.

Belvedere Fort

The Belvedere Fort is located close to Óseli, on a rocky spur overlooking Val d'Astico, in the past border between Italy and Austria-Hungary. As the other fortresses of the Highlands, it was built to stand a bomb attack and isolation for many days.

Follina Abbey

Originally Benedictine, this Cistercian Monastery presents the typical building of a Latin cross plant, with a beautiful central cloister. It was called Sana-Vallis, and in this fertile land took place histories of important people and political events.

Located among the provinces of Treviso, Belluno and Pordenone, the Forest of Cansiglio was the main "wood for oar" of the Serenissima Republic of Venice, because of its beech trees. In Autumn, you will be astronished by the wonderful foliage: from dark red to yellow and orange.

Rotzo Potatoes

Hailing from Rotzo, this variety of mountain potato with white or red skin, is rich in starches thanks to the characteristics of the soil. It is traditionally used for the "polenta considera", typical dish of this area, made with flour, onion and lard.

The Monte Veronese PDO cheese

The Monte Veronese PDO cheese could be Mezzano, semi-hard, or Stagionato, aged cheese. It is a high quality cheese produced at the alpine huts. Its flavour depends on the particular herbs of the meadows and it has a deep straw yellow colour. Furthermore, it is a Slow Food Presidium.

The Bardolino DOC

The area of the Bardolino DOC is spread on the internal territory, where the soil has morainal and fluvio-glacial origin. The wine is defined as "light red couloured, pleasing on the palate, not heavy to the stomach"; it is marked by spicy notes of cherry, morello cherry, strawberry and raspberry.

Lamon PGI Bean

Beans are known as "the meat of the poors", for their high nutritional value. The variety of Lamon, grown only on the Highland of Lamon and Sovramonte, is pleasing to the palate and easily digestible. Thus, this type of bean is the most valued and appreciated.

Grappa of Bassano

The city of Bassano played an essential role during the two World Wars, because it supplied to the army the grape pomace of the vineyards of the DOC area of Breganze, to give the soldiers some courage. Now you can taste the grappa during the "rasentin" ritual, after the coffee.

Mountain PDO Montasio

Short and local chain, fresh milk and mountain seasoning: these are the characteristics enriching PDO Montasio, a semi-hard cheese with a unique taste, soft and fine, naturally lactose-free.

The Valley of the Sphinxes

A small valley that develops to the North of Camposilvano, studded with numerous monolithic blocks. The evocative shapes are the result of relentless erosion of the limestone, that created faces and expressions origin of fantastic stories.

Chestnuts of Monfenera

Monfenera is the mount where the cultivation of chestnut trees of Pedemontana developed. Here the heart-shaped chestnuts are harvested every year. The floury pulp, sweet and crisp when cooked, makes this fruit perfect if roasted or basic ingredient in pastry-making.

Santa Croce Lake

On the shores of this natural lake, the important natural site Sbarai Oasis is located. It is the original habitat of many species of birds and lake fauna. Thanks to its windy climate, it is appreciated by kitesurfers from all Europe.

The Shrine of the Corona

Sixteenth-century Shrine, a real pearl embedded on the steep precipe over Valle dell'Adige. Follow the path to reach the Shrine and admire the breathtaking panorama over Valle dell'Adige, the Sengio mountains, the Tiglio bridge and the Cave of Mercy.

The water of Recoaro

The therapeutic characteristics of the water coming from the four springs Lora, Lelia, Lorgna and Amara are due to the high presence of minerals in it. They are useful for the treatment and prevention of many patologies, with great results, since 1700.

Grappa Morlacco cheese

Known as "Formajo dei Poareti" (cheese of the poors), Morlacco cheese has a long tradition of people and migrations, making it one of the most famous cheese of Monte Grappa. It has sapid and persistent flavour, thanks to cow milk of the alpine huts. It is a key product of the local gastronomy.

The Ponte di Veja

Created by the evolution of an ancient karstic cave, this huge limestone bridge is located in Sant'Anna d'Alfaedo, Giare. It is part of an astonishing view, thanks to its impressiveness and its 30mt height from the valley. Here, there are other two caves of the Palaeolithic period.

The alpine hut butter

The butter of the alpine huts of Lessinia is a peculiar product, derived from the cream of natural milk from the alpine huts. The cows graze only in alpine meadows, on the Verona part of Monti Lessini, only four months per year.

The extra-virgin Valpolicella PDO oil

The olive trees of the Valpolicella hills characterise the landscape and the agriculture. The traditional cold pressing of the fruits gives to the final product organoleptic perculiarities, fully enjoyed with raw consumption.

The Contrà Pria canyons

In Contrà Pria, a small village of a few houses along Valdastico, is located a real treasure: a canyon carved into the mountain through the centuries, with overhanging rocks, small lakes and bays of crystal clear water. Exploring the area, you can visit the pozze, three caves ideal for immersions.

The Thermae of Recoaro

The Thermae of Recoaro are famous mostly for its for natural mineral water springs. The area is also a thermal centre located in a vast park of centuries-old trees and historical buildings of the 19th century.

Itinerary of Meatte

Leaving from the Valley of San Liberale, you reach Cima della Mandria and the famous trail, along which you will discover numerous caves and shelters, toward the Tibetan bridge where the itinerary ends. Along the mule-track, from Pian dea Baea you can go back to the starting point.

Cison di Valmarino

From the archpriest church and the votive shrines, to Penne Mozze Wood, thorugh the magic Castelbrando. One of the most beautiful villages in Italy lights up thanks to the traditional Artigianato Vivo event, a surprising arts and crafts market.
